Our Products

Our products are organized by category. As experienced microalgae producers, we haave a pretty good idea of what our microalgae are used for, but the innovative character of our customers never ceases to surprise us.

So, if you can’t find what you are looking under a specific category, make sure you check our full catalog or contact us directly.

FEEDS

Microalgae play a crucial nutritional role for marine animals. Phytoplankton is the basis of the marine food chain. Most marine invertebrates depend on microalgae for their whole life cycle.
Microalgae are used in aquaculture hatcheries for fish, shrimp, and shellfish larviculture, especially for live-prey cultivation and enrichment of Rotifers and Artemia. Microalgae may be also used to perform the Green Water Technique widely reported as improving fish larvae growth, survival, and feed ingestion, to develop the immunological system, pigmentation and swim bladder function. It has also been reported that the Green Water Technique has a positive effect on the stabilization of water quality within the rearing tanks.
Microalgae also present unique opportunities as functional ingredients for pet food applications as a source of protein, fatty acids (Omega 3 EPA and DHA), antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and fibre. They can improve intestinal health, the shine and strength of the coat, and activate the immune system of animals and are beneficial for various health conditions such as inflammation, skin, and kidneys diseases and osteoarthritis.

COSMETICS

Microalgae are naturally designed to resist several environmental aggressions. They produce pigments as sun-blockers; several metabolites to fight bacteria and viruses; polysaccharides to protect themselves from outer menaces. Cosmetologists have long exploited these benefits in cosmetic formulations.
Necton provides whole-cell microalgae as a raw material for further extractions. Microalgae are usually used in the form of extract, and can be mainly found in the face, hair and skin care products (anti-ageing creams, refreshing or regenerative care products, emollient and as an anti-irritant, sun protection). Necton has an extensive track record producing and selling to its cosmetics customers. Although most of our customer’s applications remain in full secrecy, our microalgae show the following bioactivities:

Food & Nutraceuticals

Microalgae are natural sources of highly valuable bioactive compounds, such as vitamins, essential amino acids, carotenoids, polyunsaturated fatty acids, minerals, carotenoids, enzymes and fibres and have a long history of use as foods and for the production of food ingredients capable of improving the well-being and quality of life, but also by curtailing disease and illness risks.
Authorisations of novel foods and novel food ingredients are regulated differently from country to country.

Algae4IBD

FROM NATURE TO BEDSIDE- ALGAE BASED BIO COMPOUND FOR PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF INFLAMMATION, PAIN AND IBD

Grant agreement ID: 101000501

Goal: Algae4IBD aims to develop functional food and medication against pain, inflammation and IBD from marine and freshwater micro and macroalgae (seaweed).

Period: June 2021 – May 2025

Funding Scheme: Horizon Europe

REALM

Reusing Effluents from Agriculture to unLock the potential of Microalgae

Grant agreement ID: 101060991

Goal: REALM will transform nutrient-rich drain waters from soilless farms into value, by producing microalgae at reduced costs while treating water and capturing CO2 from the air. This concept will increase the circularity and profitability of microalgal production and soilless farming.

Coordinator: Necton

Period: July 2022 – June 2026

Funding Scheme: Horizon Europe
